As the world continues to face pressing environmental challenges, it is critical that businesses and organizations partner to make a difference. The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) has joined forces with EPAM Systems (EPAM) to help protect the planet through participation in Earth Hour on March 25, a global event organized by WWF that encourages individuals and businesses to turn off non-essential lights for one hour as a symbol of their commitment to the planet.

As a leading global digital transformation services and product engineering company, EPAM recognizes the importance of sustainable practices and is committed to reducing its environmental impact. By participating in Earth Hour, EPAM joins a global community of organizations and individuals taking action to protect the planet. This action raises awareness of the urgent need to address climate change. This year’s Earth Hour is not just about turning off the lights, but also about switching off daily habits and distractions. By giving an hour to Earth, we can make a significant contribution to reversing nature loss by 2030.

“We are honored to partner with WWF in our shared mission to protect our planet and promote environmental sustainability,” said Shamilka Samarasinha, Global Head of Corporate Social Responsibility, EPAM. “The global environmental challenges we face today require collective action, and we encourage everyone to join us in taking meaningful steps towards a greener future. As we participate in the biggest hour for Earth, let's make a commitment to adopting sustainable practices in our daily lives, such as reducing plastic consumption, conserving water and energy and supporting conservation efforts. Together, we can make a significant impact and safeguard our planet for generations to come.”

In addition to Earth Hour, EPAM will be participating in the upcoming Pedal for the Planet Cyclothon that will be held in Hyderabad and Delhi. The cycling event aims to raise awareness about climate change and promote sustainable practices.

Through its partnership with WWF, EPAM has supported several environmental initiatives and programs that promote sustainable development. In 2022, EPAM participated in a program called Global Wild Wisdom Challenge 2022, that gave young people the opportunity to build valuable knowledge that drives green actions—all in a fun and interactive format. More than 25,000 students from 389 schools across 16 states participated in workshops, nature walks and a wildlife safari to develop knowledge and appreciation towards the diverse wildlife and recognize the need to conserve our biodiversity.
